Being funny is being mean

There always is a target, even if it's yourself. I've heard time and time again "you know, you don't have to be so cruel to be funny". You know who says that? People that aren't funny.

Every barb hurts, even the small ones. But here's the thing about barbs, there's no convenient place to hold them, so every time you use one you hurt yourself a little too. But making someone laugh is the greatest feeling in the world, so you can either stop and live without that sound, or learn to accept the hurt. It's up to you. I know which one I'm choosing. Every time.
